Here's some personal information about David

David Hills was born in Jackson, Michigan in 1964. He is currently 43 years old and resides in Redmond, OR. David and his former wife Heidi have two children, Brittany (10) and Matthew (7).

David was saved at the age of ten in Brooklyn, Michigan at a United Brethren Church. He went to Jackson Community College and later went on to graduate from Huntington College in Huntington, Indiana with a Bachelor's Degree in History/Education. David sensed a strong call to public ministry in January 1989, just a few months prior to his graduation. He answered God's call and went on to enroll in the Huntington College Graduate School of Christian Ministries that fall. David took a small Church of the Brethren (different denomination) in a little town near Huntington and pastored there until the end of December 1990. At that point he went to the Dillman United Brethren Church near Warren, Indiana to do an internship. After being there a few weeks the church decided to hire David as their associate pastor.

But severe health problems at the time forced David to cut short his graduate level studies in the spring of 1991. It also spelled the end of his stay at the Dillman Church. At that point his superiors moved him west to take a small U.B. church in Dayton, Washington. David stayed there for three years, rebuilt his health with God's help and healing and married Heidi Johnson of Bend, OR. in December of 1992. In the summer of 1994 the couple relocated to The Dalles, OR to be a little closer to Heidi's family and to attempt going to a seminary in Portland, OR on a part time basis. That part of the plan did not work out financially, but David did switch over to the Church of the Nazarene and began their home studies course for ministerial education. This kept David licensed with the Church of the Nazarene until March of 2004.

In December of 1995 David and Heidi moved to Prineville, OR as he was in between pastorates and was working secular jobs. The need for higher paying work led the couple to Central Oregon, which put them still closer to Heidi's family. They both became very active in the Prineville Church of the Nazarene and David continued doing pulpit supply for the Oregon-Pacific District of the Nazarene denomination, as he had been doing in the Columbia Gorge region.

This led to David becoming the pastor of a small Nazarene church in the little farming community of Culver, OR. By this time Heidi was expecting their first child and the couple took the little church, which had dwindled down to eight people. They stayed there for over three years, building it up over 30 at one point and adding a second child to the family in the meantime.

Then the Lord called the Hills family to the Church of the Nazarene in Lincoln City, OR, which is on the beautiful Oregon Coast. They moved in April of 2001 and pastored there for two years. In the late winter of 2003 David felt the Lord calling him to step down from the pulpit to concentrate on Internet ministry, music ministry and writing.

The Hills family moved to Colorado Springs, CO in September of 2005 as David took a higher paying job. However, the marriage suffered from a number of problems. The couple separated in September of 2006 and were divorced in May of 2007 due to irreconcilable differences. The good news is that David and Heidi are still the best of friends and are concentrating on parenting their two children.

At this time David is concentrating on internet ministry via this website. He works in the customer service field to make a living.

David Hills has also been involved in radio ministry in Huntington, Indiana and also helped found a jail ministry in the same community. This is in addition to his evangelistic work and music concerts. His radio preaching ministry actually began before he had his first church. David's vocal ministry began while still in college in the spring of 1988 when he was invited to sing in college chapel services. He did a great deal of music ministry over the years. Since his divorce, David has decided to step down from public preaching ministry work in favor of ministering through this website.
